We have ducks again!
We first got ducks early on, and they never really caught on with us. But after reading Carol Deppe's book "The Resiliant Gardener", I thought I would give them a try; the slugs really are dreadful here.
So we found someone with Anconas (Carol's recommended variety), and picked them up in May. They were born, I think, on Friday or Saturday, we picked them up on Sunday, and on Monday they stated eating the very small slugs that were eating the tops of the onion seedlings. Of course I had to hand-collect the slugs, and they couldn't eat the really big ones. But they have been very helpful already, and are well-trained to love slugs.
Our ducks are young and not yet laying eggs.
