Ten Rivers Food Web - East Linn

Ten Rivers Food web is a nonprofit organization, based in Corvallis but focused on the three counties of Linn, Benton and Lincoln, from the Cascades to the coast.
Their website: Ten Rivers Food Web.

The goal of Ten Rivers Food Web is to establish food systems that allow much more food to be grown and consumed locally. There are three angles they are taking; food literacy (food education), encouraging farmers, and increasing local food access for low-income people.

One of the most important services this website provides is the food directory, a searchable database of local food producers: Farm Search

Ten Rivers Food Web has a board and serveral subcommittes, and a number of paid staff. The community as a whole is involved primarily via their email listserv. In addition to the main Ten Rivers Group, several local community groups in the Ten Rivers Foodshed (the three county area) have become chapters of TRFW.

The ten rivers are the Siletz, Yaquina, Alsea, Luckiamute, Mary's, Long Tom, Willamette, Calapooia, and the North and South Santiam.

Ten Rivers Food Web - East Linn

In 2010, folks in Lebanon and Sweet Home who care about food system formed a group that is now a chapter of Ten Rivers Food Web. The local group is called Ten Rivers Food Web - East Linn; abbreviated TRFW-EL, which can be pronounced "truffle".

TRFW-EL meets monthly, on the fourth Wednesday of the month, alternating between Lebanon and Sweet Home; we are still working out the details of the regular meetings. If you would like to get involved with this group, write or call me, or contact Spencer at 541.602.7279 for meeting details.

We have put on one major event, the Food Education Fair on Food Day (October 24, 2011). You can read about it here: Report on Food Day. Note the video linked from this page was made by Jay.
